Rockin' and Rollin'
Tue, Apr 8, 2014
Hello and Greetings Everyone I want to begin by thanking our extraordinary photographer Ralph De Palma for including me in his new book "The Soul of Key West" which includes many of our finest musicians here on the island. This is volume 1 featuring stories and awesome pics of all of us. Thanks to our dear friends Sally Galbraith (editor) and Cindi Jefferson (design & production) for their great work on this tribute. Three of my band mates are also featured in the book. I am especially honored having only been here since 2005 while many of these fine people have been here for decades! Speaking of PCB, we'll be at Schooner this weekend rockin on the water till midnight. One of the perks of living here on this beautiful island is that my drive to Schooner is only 2 miles long! And no traffic jams. The only thing I pass is a bicyclist! I want to take time here and give a belated happy birthday wishes to our good friend Richard Crooks who is the drummer on my next cd. Richard has played with Bob Dylan, Dr John, Ray Charles, Carol King, Dionne Warwick, Johnny Winter, The Blues Brothers and he toured internationally with Leonard Cohen and Janis Ian. The list goes on and on and here on the island he plays with piano great Barry Cuda where they play at BO'S FISHWAGON and the Sunday 5 O'clock Soundcheck at the Green Parrot. Richard just doesn't keep time, he paints with rhythm! Drummer extraordinaire! Richard has played on the recent release of local great Bill Blue's new cd entitled "MOJOLATION". This CD was produced by my producer Ian Shaw and it really rocks. Excellent slide guitar work from Bill and my good friend from Nashville Michael McAdam and sizzling piano from Ericson Holt also originally from Nashville. I must thank Michael for the really fine introduction to me the other night at the Hogs Breath Saloon where i sang JJCales' Magnolia with Ericson backing me on piano. That's a very fine Telecaster Michael. Thank you! I am honored to share the stage again with John Wells, George Halloran, tom Murtha, Gary MacDonald in the musical production of Conchs,Cowboys and Tales Of Old Key West is running now at the Red Barn Playhouse where I have joined them again for these rousing adventures in stories and songs. www.redbarntheatre.com The PAUL COTTON BAND - MID-WEST will be making a ONE NITE ONLY appearance at the Waupun City Auditorium on MAY 3 = www.ticketstar.com more to come on this concert and the Summer dates. Until our paths cross again; be well, be kind, be happy! |
